Thanks to your support, we smashed our target of ½ million signatures and reached almost one million signatures!
On World Maritime Day, 23 September 2010, the million-strong petition was delivered to the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), in London.
The same day, a joint letter from all the co-sponsors was sent to the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, highlighting the urgent need for governments worldwide to work together to end piracy. A swift response from the Secretary General was received pledging that UN would ‘spare no effort’ in tackling piracy.
